April 2015 is declared Auctioneer’s Month

On April 29, the board of directors traveled to Topeka to meet with Governor Sam Brownback. The governor signed a proclamation declaring April to be Auctioneer's Month. As always, it seems that auctioneers are one of his favorite groups to meet with. As the governor tells it, his father thought he was quite the talker and would make a great auctioneer. He actually went to auction school, but in the end decided to go to law school.

November presidential update

Hello Kansas Auctioneer Friends, Wow, how this year has flown by. It’s hard to believe the holidays are coming and soon I’ll be finishing up my year of presidency. It’s been a great ride and I am so thankful to be having this experience and be working with an incredible Board of Directors. Just last week, we conducted a board meeting and our Annual Livestock Auctioneer Championship. It was a fierce competition. Congratulations to Russele Sleep, our new champion. We had 12 contestants and t...

What does the KAA offer me as a member?

What does the KAA offer me as a member? And why should we encourage auctioneer friends who are not members to join our association? Let’s take a look at these questions and make sure we are getting the full value of what we have available as members of the KAA. As a member of the Kansas Auctioneers Association, we have many resources at our fingertips. One very important, and often overlooked, benefit is our ability to request UCC lien searches. We can obtain these for a charge of only $10 fo...

Message from KAA Auxiliary

HELLO!!!! Is there anyone out there??? Since convention, I haven't heard from anybody!  That just goes to show how full swing we all are into auctions! Doesn't it seem busier to everyone? We hope the economy is turning around! We did run into Bill Eberhardt and his beautiful wife at a real estate auction. I encouraged her to attend next year's convention and get involved. For those of you who came to our competition at the State Fair to help out the committee, and to those of you who came to watch and support the event, thank you very much for your assistance and support in making it a great success. The contest was well attended and ...

International Auctioneers Conference and Show in Orlando

As I write this in early February, the “Blizzard of 2011” has recently made its exit from Kansas and headed north and east. I’m sitting in my little house in Lawrence, Kan., looking at snowdrifts that are almost as tall as I am, and I’m dreaming … not of a White Christmas, but of Orlando, Fla., in July! I know that in Orlando I will feel the heat and humidity and perhaps think fondly back to the 2011 blizzard (maybe -- and then again, maybe not!). But what I know for sure is that I won...
