Eleven auctioneers to compete in Kansas Auctioneer Championship

WICHITA, Kan., September 2, 2014 – Since 1992, auctioneers throughout Kansas and the surrounding states have traveled to Hutchinson to compete with one another at the Kansas State Fair, vying for the title of Auctioneer Champion. April 2014 is declared Auctioneer’s Month

On April 24th the Board of Directors meet with Governor Sam Brownback for the signing of a proclamation of April being Kansas/National Auctioneers Month. As always, it seems that auctioneers are one of his favorite groups to meet with. After he was told KAA President, Megan McCurdy, is the IAC Women's Division Champion; he asked for her to auction off a fossil artwork on his wall. Of course, the Governor had the winning bid.

2013 KAA convention results

Don Hamit was inducted into the KAA Hall of Fame this past weekend. Scholarships were received by Vera Hall, Dylan Moore and Toby Omli from the KAA and KAAA. Richard Garvin was installed as the 2013 President; Megan McCurdy as the 2013 President Elect and Bill Eberhardt as 2013 Vice President. Cindi Ferguson will be the Executive Director for Kansas, Rick James and Robert Mayo were elected directors.

Mike Bailey wins 2013 livestock competition

Congratulations to Mike Bailey for winning the  2013 Livestock Auctioneer Championship, held on November 13 at Plainville Livestock. Brad Sosebee is the reserve champion, followed by Neil Bouray, Byron Bina and Dennie Flock. Also competing were Andrew Finlay, Pat Greenleaf, Jerry Hageman, Brandon Hamel, Jay Knopp and Dan McVey. Request date has changed from December 1st to November 1st this year, so get ready, set, go and request your packet. Once again the National Auctioneers Association Auxiliary has exciting news concerning the awarding of scholarships in the year 2013. Up to three scholarships of $2,000.00 each will be awarded at the International Conference and Show in Indianapolis, Indiana in July 2013. KAA champion auctioneers sell wood sculptures at state fair

They came, they saw, they bid on 35 wood sculptures created by chain saw artists A. J. Lutter and Dennis Keenan. The auction was conducted by the 2012 KAA Auctioneer Champion Jeff Crissup from Helena, Okla., and Lenny Mullin from Lenexa, Kan., the 2012 runner-up. Ringmen were Mike Bailey and Ron Gingerich with Ralph (Doc) Gingerich, clerk, and Jenny Gingerich, cashier. Buhler High School FFA boys provided manpower to set up the auction. 2012 Kansas Auctioneer Championship

The 100th Kansas State Fair was the location of the 2012 Kansas Auctioneers Association Auctioneer Championship. This was the 21st KAA Auctioneer Championship. The Kansas Auctioneers Association held their preliminary contest at the Winter Convention in Wichita in January. Ten auctioneers were selected to compete in the finalist competition.
